I think the KDEPIM suite is really quite awesome - it really integrates well with the system and provides and great environment to check my EMail, RSS, Calendar, Contacts, Todo ...
... but what is Journal? I'll be honest. I don't keep a journal myself. Therefore I guess it isn't very useful to me. However what I can relate to is weblogging. The question is: 1) Is there some secret use of journal I haven't discovered or is it all really just the ability to assign a lump of text to a day? 2) Can we integrate the journal with weblogging systems? (eg: blogspot, wordpress - they all have APIs) 3) Is there a way to hide/get rid of the journal tab in Kontact? I seem to be able to remove others via settings but not journal. I think it is because it is integrated into KOrganiser. However I don't think that merits it it's own tab. (purely opinion - I would love to hear your ideas/comments!)

I think there is a blog plugin for KOrganizer/Kontact which lets you publish journal entries as blog entries.
Check either the resource view in KOrganizer or System Settings -> Advanced Tab -> KDE Resources -> Category "Calendar" Cheers, _
