Is there any way I can setup Kontact (KDE4 version) to use my company's exchange server? I've got the email working via imap, which was very easy, but I want to get the calendaring working.
I'm using Kubuntu with the KDE 4.1.2 backport. Any help would be appreciated. |

As far as I know there is no way to fully use Kontact with the current exchange server (2007 ?) but it can work with older versions. The OWA connector works fairly well with evolution (from what I heard, haven't tried it myself) but as far as I know there isn't a kontact port available. You could try to use the kde groupware wizard and cross your fingers.

hm what is with akonadi with the experimental openchange-plugin? afaik, it should be ready for kde 4.2 (don't know current status..) but perhaps there is already an alpha version? (thought that i read something like that on the planet)

Isn't openexchange a very different thing from MS-Exchange ?

i didn't write openEXchange, simply openchange http://www.openchange.org/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=49 "OpenChange aims to provide a portable Open Source implementation of Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange protocols." http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3581 http://dot.kde.org/1218388855/1218451484/1218455493/ as i said, i don't know the current status... searching for the blog entry this evening.

so found it: http://www.confuego.org/archives/5-Spec ... ember.html "Why not Exchange I hear you asking? Well, while the server is already up and running, the Akonadi OpenChange resource - which was written during one of this summer's SoC projects - is not entirely ready yet and - being bleeding edge - also needs some extra stuff compiled. I'll keep you posted in case it gets ready before we start the Bugday."

The only realy funcional way, either for Evolution and kontact that i've found is using davmail. and it woks for every mail client you can imagine.
I've instaled it on my desktop as local service Its not full developed, but as active devel. there are some bugs, buts usesable.. i'm using it. Using openchange only works inside local network. it's dosen't use (iirc) a webmail wraper or RCP over HTTPS (standar Outlook anyware connection method) links: http://davmail.sourceforge.net/ Desc: avMail POP/IMAP/SMTP/CalDav/LDAP Exchange Gateway Miguel Pereira Leite |

Hi!
I just found davmail yesterday and have it successfully installed with Thunderbird but still have some problems with Kontact. The email seems to work. I have problems with the calender and the adress book though. The calender seems to do nothing. It seems not to make any update. The adress is confirmed in thunderbird. The adressbook find names but always complains on the size-limit. Completion when writing mail seems not to work, and I seems to get the private address book (which I thought I never see again) but also need the global one. Any hints for those settings, differences from the guide or quirks not obvious? In thunderbird it seems to work nice! Regards, Erik |

We are planning to implement RPC-over-HTTP (the "outlook anywhere" connection method). It needs a bit of support within OpenChange, quite a lot of code within the samba libraries, and a bit of code in the akonadi resource.

are there any updates available for this topic? Kind regards... |

Not much on the KDE side. I don't have any time, and no-one else has stepped up to take it over.
Sorry. |
