Hello Everybody
I just installed Kontact in order to have a PIM with more functionality than (the slowly developed) Thunderbird (which I used for years now). One reason to switch is to use Kolab2 as Groupware and I would like to have a client that integrates completely. The first thing I wanted to do is putting all my contacts into Kontact (sounds nice ). During that I was about to set up multiple addressbooks in order to organize everything. And here the problem starts: a lot of options are provided to create an addressbook and I first thought akonadi is right since it is supposed to be the next-gen backend tool. After having some trouble with that (like the addressbook showing me the file in as well which confused me), I did some googling and in this forum I found a post that basically said "dont use akonadi now...maybe with KDE 4.4". My question now is, what is the best way to store my contacts lokaly while having the best options to export and import this data later when Kontact has been improved (e.g. with KMail2)? I dont want to type this all in again. regards |

I believe the PIM team will provide a migration path for data, so you do not need to worry.
