I've recently made the switch from Thunderbird (and previously from Evolution) to KMail and the Kontact suite, and with it, I've also made the switch from other applications, such as the Liferea feed reader.
For the most part I personally love the idea of having one program do mail, calendaring and feeds. However, I found that Akregator seems to ignore my hosts file. I have a reallyreallybighostsfile, which I use in order to avoid ads declaring war to me every day. While I was using Liferea, it did honor my hosts file and I saw no ads in feeds (in fact, I didn't even know ads were bundled with the feeds). However, when switching to akregator that didn't happen anymore, and ads are displayed on every feed that has them. Is there anything that can be done regarding this so I can skip the ads as I used to? Any configuration option, anything at all? Thanks in advance GODLiKE.- |

Akregator should be obeying the /etc/hosts file ( in fact all KDE applications should ). Have you made any recent edits to the /etc/hosts file? If so, you may need to logout and log back in.

Thanks for the replies.
No, I haven't made any edit to the hosts file. It's the same hosts file I've had for almost 2 years now. In fact I've had the problem ever since I switched to Kontact more than 3 months ago To illustrate the problem, I took a screenshot of both feed readers (Liferea and Akregator) showing the same feed. Liferea doesn't show the ads, whereas Akregator does. Any ideas? |

4.3.0, but it also happened with 4.2.4, and it also happened while I used GNOME-2.26 (I've made the switch to KDE a few weeks ago).
