Hi KDE folks!

I need your help for the following:

I have my "workstation" PC at home and a notebook (mostly for university). I use Kontact (mostly kaddressbook and korganizer) for contacts and my schedule. At the moment I have all this data on my notebook, but I want the same on my workstation. There are 2 reasons for it:
1. See and edit my calendar at home using a real keyboard and display ;)
2. For backup reasons

The question is: How to do so? When I come home I'd like to switch on my notebook and sync all that stuff.

I don't have an internet connection always avaliable, though it's no (real) possibility to use some kind of online service for storage/backup and syncing.

Thanks and kind regards,

This data will all be stored in your KDEHOME/share directory. Where KDEHOME is can be discovered with the following command: kde4-config --localprefix. Note that not all data under there is your PIM data, all your settings for all KDE applications are also stored there.

I know where it's stored and how I could copy it by hand. But I want a nice automatic solution...

that's not a solution for me!
to share the file means: the data is stored on one of my compters and if i shut it down it's not avaliable anymore...
but i want to turn on both computers and let 'em sync their akonadi data and then shutdown one of them and have my actual data there!

thanks

@benneque: That user was a spammer who has been eliminated.

While automatic synchornisation may not be available, you may be able to use RSync to handle this.

Unfortunate. You will need to copy the files around manually in this case when you wish to switch machines, as this form of Synchornisation does not yet exist.

Or, you can sync with Dropbox.

have the same problem, and posted it here(viewtopic.php?f=20&t=84428) before reading this ;). my idea was to use an external mysql server(on the internet or LAN), and use the same database für notebook and desktop pc. maybe the data have to be stored locally, if theres no connection. but i dont no if this is possible.
