I'm about to pull my hair out. I'm having a problem printing html mail messages from kmail. When I try to print these, the printed output get's confused and garbled when it hits an html section of the message. I see a several issues with the output:
1) It looks like it thinks the paper size length is much larger than it is...so every page that prints out loses a lot of the orginal message...it just seems to disappear off the bottom of the page 2) Again...when it hits a block of html formatting, it chokes...it's like it can't properly render the html to the printer, so lines get overlayed on top of other lines, making the mail unreadable. I've tried playing with paper sizes (A4 borderless and US letter borderless give the best results) for my 8.5 x 11 inch paper. But those don't solve the problems above. I've tried printing with fixed fonts too...seems to make no difference. Anybody have any ideas what else I can try...I've almost burned through one printer cartridge trying to trouble shoot this. Oh, other things print fine from KDE...ocular prints PDFs perfectly...firefox pages print perfectly as well. Only thing affected seems to be kmail. UPDATE: Actually, this seems to be a problem with with printing in KDE4 in general. I tried printing an e-mail directly from gmail using konqueror and got the same terrible results. The same e-mail prints perfectly using firefox. |

The problem is printing HTML. Actual printing works fine, but rendering the HTML to the printer doesn't work so well. Try saving the HTML part of the message out and opening it in a different browser and printing from there.
Part of the problem is that most developers work exclusively with plain text email, so issues with it aren't detected and fixed.

Thanks for the reply. I've googled around...seems like a long-standing problem. Several open bugs seem related to this. I'll just use the web-based method and print through firefox until it gets fixed...hopefully it will.
