Hi all,
After a simple upgrade with apt, my Korganizer app doesn't start anymore. The only output from the terminal available is:
Code: Select all
~$ korganizer
<unknown program name>(3157)/: Communication problem with  "korganizer" , it probably crashed.
Error message was:  "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "
~$

Something is definitly wrong, but how am I able to fix this? It's the same for Kontact (but that has a Korganizer part). I am using Kubuntu Karmic, completely up to date and I'm not using any beta ppa or something :)

Thanks for any help!!! (Atm I miss all my appointments because I am not able to see them...)

Try running it like so, and post any error messages.

Code: Select all
korganizer --nofork

KDE Sysadmin

This may be totally irrelevant, but that error message is near-identical to the ones I was seeing when I couldn't get kontact to start. It turned out that the problem was with akonadi. Running the configuration screen (started from the tray icon) I found that my (remote) korganizer file was correctly set up, as was my addressbook, but a new 'resource' had been added for Local mail - and was pointing to a non-existent directory. Since I fixed that all has been well (so far - this only got fixed yesterday). Check that patsh set for any resources :-) HTH

It was indeed an Akonadi server prolem :) With help of the configuration screen I noticed the issue. I didn't solve the problem, but updated my Kubuntu Karmic installation to a beta KDE4.4 with help of the beta-ppa packages. That did the trick as well.

Thanks for the info!

Glad it helped:-) My problems are not altogether sorted, though. Mail, and all the other applications except Contacts work fine. This morning I found an empty addressbook - something I haven't seen for years. I replaced it with a backup, but I can't find any way to use that backup. I guess that using a database makes it less simple than previously. I'll talk to the developers about this.
