[SOLVED] Kontact crash on shutdown

Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:46 pm
In the last time it happens very often, that KDE gives an error box while the system is shutting down, because Kontact crashes.
After the erst crashes I thought, it was caused by the stand-by PC state.
Then I tried to understand, if it was caused from inputs, when they are not yet saved / completely written in.
Now I can exclude both these cases and I don't see any causality.

In this forum I found an old message,
[SOLVED] kontact crash by Michael
Message of Do Jan 22, 2009 12:27 am

but I can't see any solution for the item there.

Could you give me any suggestions to avoid future crashes?

Thank a lots in advance

You are using the KDE 3 versions of Akregator and Kontact. The crash in this case occurs in Akregator, so please disable it in Kontact to workaround the crash.

Note that no further releases of KDE 3 are planned, and upgrading to KDE 4.4 is strongly recommended.

bcooksley, thanks a lot for the tip. It will be done!

I can not follow your recommendation to upgrade to KDE 4.4. I've already tested KDE 4.3 and it was quite impossible to work, because all became heavier and very slower. At the moment I don't to upgrade my hardware.
