HELP!!! Akonadi won't start kde4.4

Thu Feb 11, 2010 12:04 pm
I updated to kde 4.4 today and when I try to start kontact or kmail it says that it cannot start the akonadi server with the following errors:

Akonadi control process not registered at D-bus
Akonadi server process not registered at D-bus
No resource agents found
current akonadi server error log found
previous akonadi server error log found

Please help!!! I'm using Arch Linux

There is no ~/.akonadi folder. I tried

rm -rf /home/whashnez/.local/share/akonadi

but I got the same errors. Please any ideas?

First - people keep telling you to remove things and that's almost always bad advice. If you think a file is causing you problems, rename it.

Now to the problem. Check ~/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf looking for a line containing 'slow-query' (I'm writing from memory, so it may be capitalised or not have the hyphen, or whatever). It should be commented out as should the same line in /etc/akonadi/mysql-global.conf. This is a change from the old requirement, and fixing it sorted the problem out for me.

Try running "kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental"

If that doesn't work, please move $(kde4-config --localprefix)/share/apps/kontact/ somewhere else.
