Ok, i updated to kde4.4 yesterday and i am pretty shocked since at first all my contacts where lost, but i managed to import them from .kde4/share/apps/kabc/.
But these files are INCOMPLETE for some reason, they don't have the instant messaging informations and no birthday dates are stored. So where did my addressbook go to? Where did kontact 4.3 store it's information? I have an "old" Vcard created from kontact 4.3 and it has all the missing rows: BDAY:*************** X-messaging/icq-All:********* X-messaging/xmpp-All:********** If i import that file with kontact 4.4, those fields are ignored and i don't have BDAY and messaging information in the program. Where did kontact 4.3 store his data and why isn't kontact 4.4 able to import kontact 4.3 data properly? EDIT: Files in ~/.local/share/contacts are incomplete too. |

If you look at the files in a text editor you'll see that you haven't lost any information. Some of that information doesn't yet display, for various reasons. Some of it is because big changes are being made in the way that the info is being used. It's not too convenient to be at this stage, but at least the info is actually still there and can be read, and updates will gradually get us back to the old functionality and beyond.

I've just checked my addressbook, and I can see birthdays in the Personal tab of contacts, together with Anniversaries. Are you sure that yours aren't there?

No i did check it via cat file. Maybe virtuoso killed that information? There are definitely no birthdays/IM Adresses in those Vcards stored in the folders i mentioned (~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc and ~/.local/share/contacts)
nepomuk/virtuoso has probably something to do with that. What's also weird that he isn't able, as i mentioned, to import the vcard correctly which was created with an older kde version. It looks like that (edited to keep my privacy)
In the program Bday, PGPKey and IM Information are missing. |
