There was a recent post on the Dot about the recent improvments in KJots. In my opinion KJots is exactly everything the Journal part for KOrganizer should be. The Journal is quite basic and does not offer as many features as KJots which is understandable, but is there any chance of KJots replacing the Journal part of KOrganizer entirely. I would like it if KJots could integrate with the Calendar as the Journal does and see the days books/pages were created and edited.
It seems redundant to me having the Journal in Kontact as it functions are implemented better in KJots. What are others opinions of this? One more thing, is there a plasmoid for KJots yet? |

I think the two applications have different purposes. KJots is intended as a note organiser, where your ideas are organised in notebook form. Of course there's nothing to stop you adding dates to your entries. Journal, on the other hand, is simply notes that attach to a date in your organiser. You can search for a keyword to find all the entries related to that and the dates on which you made the entries. Does that make it clearer? I don't see either doing the job of the other one.

Yes I understand that, but I would prefer to have no Journal and just use KJots and be able to optionally tie an entry to the calendar for it to be displayed on the calendar. I just feel that Journal is lacking even though it is supposed to be simple and could easily be replaced by KJots.
