odd, since i still can using menu item [options » html]
no, it is more likely that you didn't decide to ask on this forum how you can use html in kmail but decided to rant about it in stead.

Same as above: why don't you ask on this forum how you can get the old style of organising messages back? Every new version of software takes time to learn its features. I recently replaced windows mail with windows live mail on a friends computer. That also implied that he had to learn how to find his way in the new interface of that application. And if you can't figure it out on your own, don't hessitate to ask it on this forum.

Actually, Riinse, since he won't ask I will. Is there a way to get the old-style organization back? My wife has requested it.

Just look in Configure/Appearance/Message list. Choose the aggregation that fits your needs the best.

Thanks, but you misunderstand. you know how your messages are separated by what day they were sent? My wife wants that gone, and I don't see an option to do that.

Is this by any chance a new config option in KDE 4.4.x? I'm still running 4.3.4, and I don't have all of the configuration options you're describing.

Yepp, I'm on 4.4.2. Look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=84653
Hopefully the other version works for you. |

I won't have 4.4.x until it makes it's way into the Debian repositories. This has been delayed somewhat because Debian is preparing for the feature freeze and there's a fairly lengthy transition queue; KDE 4.4 is one of the last things on that list. The good news is that it will be in Squeeze for sure.

riinse,
I have no doubt as to your own estimation of your own puissance in all matters KDE from your style, but if you will note: I was questioning the real value in posts that flame rather than explain, and in the same post asked two questions, neither of which can I see that you seriously attempted to answer. I don't see a menu item such as 'options' in KMail, though I can find a viewing option to *view* emails in either text or html. Need I say this is not the same? And since the other gentleman has asked the question about the day-header bands (that I asked in that same post to which you took such exception), can you answer that? Can it be that you feel KDE is in such need of support that you must flame everyone who asks a civil question? Joe |

Both questions were answered. I'll recap: 1) The HTML issue. Your solution is under Folders > Prefer HTML to Plain Text. 2) The day-headers. On the newer version of Kmail in KDE 4.4.x it's apparently under KMail > Configure KMail > Appearance > Message List > Message List tab, and on my older version in KDE 4.3.4 there's a button to the right of the search bar to select the aggregation mode. Hope this helps. |

Thank you Annew, and Giftlftr, if I have that correctly, for the links and post explaining where to find the 'flat' style. I totally missed the icons in the upper right hand of the window, my bad. My eyesight leaves something to be desired, sorry to say, and that doesn't help.
If I have missed something pointing to the choice of how to send mail in HTML, as well, I would welcome anyone pointing it out. Thanks, Joe |
