Hi,

A few time ago, I migrate from Thunderbird to Kmail.

But there is one thing that I can't understand how to configurate.

I want Kmail to connect the mails-server and to delete them only when I delete them on local.

I found how to determinate a certain time before deletion or how to delete mail when downlaoding them, but these options are not what I need.

Thank you for your help.

Can you please post a English screenshot of that page? You can run KMail as follows to get it in English without changing your settings
Code: Select all
KDE_LANG=en_US kmail &

Hello bcooksley,

I edited my post with an English capture instead of the French one.

But I guess, it's not the right way to get the option I'm looking for, since this option is not available in that menu.

I expected to find on the second line "leave the message on the server" >"until deletion" like in Thunderbird. But you can only set term.

However I just noticed you can choose "for 0 day". Don't know what it does. I should try but I'm afraid that Kmail could delete messages I need to keep on the server.

Thank you.

It is possible this feature was removed since KDE 3, since I am sure the KDE 3 Enterprise version of KMail offered this.

With POP protocol?

I know, the easiest way to go to get the feature is to use imap protocol but my isp does not provide it correctly.

Yes, with POP. Something like "Delete on server when deleted on local client" or similar.. can't remember exactly.
