Hello everyone

After some reading about Akonadi, I decided to use it and move all my contacts to resources accessed by Akonadi.

I want to create a new Addressbook (from the new KAddressbook) and I get confused by all the options. Ok, the Kolab-Imap is out since I am not running one of these yet, but whats the difference between "Standard Addressbook" and "KDE Addressbook"? Which one is better (futureproof) when I start with my contacts from scratch?

Thanks

EDIT: and I am wondering why KAddressbook isnt showing the books already defined in Akonadi by default? There is a "Default Addressbook" and one called "Personal Contacts" but both are shown as offline.

Since we are all struggling with the new concepts, I got one of the kaddressbook developers to give us some definitions, which I put on http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_and_AddressBook . I think you will find that you are more comfortable with it when you have read that. The Personal Contacts one is the one to use, I think. It's what I use as my default.

Thanks a lot

I havent yet found out everything about the KDE community, speaking of where I find information about what (google is not always the shortest way).

It's worth trying a keyword or two in Userbase's search box - it does return pages that are in other languages as well, so the list can be fairly long, but the short extract that goes with each page usually hints at whether the page would help you. Between Userbase and the Forum you usually can find the help you need.
