I have 7 imap accounts set up. I don't like having to click on each inbox in the "favorite folders" section to read mail.
How do I have one single parent inbox folder which shows all the mail from each account? (each accounts folder structure should still be intact with mail going into each inbox respectively) |

A single Inbox is the norm for KMail. However, if you are using pure IMAP you are actually viewing the folders on the servers, so I guess that you can't avoid having separate Inboxes. Perhaps you should consider dIMAP (disconnected IMAP) which downloads onto your local box - presumably that could then use a single folder structure.

so no one can help me with setting up a unified inbox?
guess I'll just use thunderbird in the meantime, since it has "smart folders" |

How do you setup unified inbox for multiple dIMAP accounts then?

You could probly use a stored search, i.e. providing a different folder name then "Last search". this will create a virtual folder under search results.

Hopefully my reply pushes this to the top because I am lazy, but is there still no way to create a unified inbox?

Hi,
An acceptable workaround is to select all your inboxes in the folder widget with ctrl+clic. You will then see the mails from all inboxes in the list and be able to select mails, respond etc. without loosing the focus on the inboxes (as long as you don't click again in the folder widget). Note that you cannot do multiple selection in the favorite folder widget, you have to make the selection in the main widget with all your accounts ant their subfolders. Another possibility would be to configure a filter but I haven't done it yet... I'll post again if this way is successful. Best ++ David |
