Hi There,
I cannot create Contacts because there ias no address book to save them in. However, if I open KAddressBook go to New -> Add an address book and choose the KDE Addressbook (traditional) I get followinfg messages after a few seconds: "Could not add address book: Agent instance creation timed out." I'm using KAddressBook Version 4.4.1 KDE 4.4.1 on a Kubuntu Karmic system. What's going on here? Thanks! Ron ![]() |

Try http://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook for setting up help, and http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi if you get any error messages that come from backend stuff, nepomuk, mysql etc (though if you can start kaddressbook anyway you probably won't get those).

Okay been looking athttp://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook# ... _Resources. I got as far as enabling Nepomuk but when I try to enable the ressources, all i see is an empty box to the left of that "Manage Address Book Sources" button. and when i hit that button, i get another empty box popping up saying "Manage Address Book Sources - System Settings". Trying to hit the Add... button offers me to add ressources but double clicking on any of those won't translarte into showing up in that list box in the "Manage Address Book Sources - System Settings" dialog.... ![]() ![]() Thanks, -- roN ![]() |

Ah - you are misunderstanding (I'll pass that info to the developers). Add allows you to add another resource to that list, which is not what you are trying to do. Highlight the one you want to use - akonadi-resource Personal - and click Edit. Click on Personal Contacts, then Manage Addressbook Sources. (Note that it tells you that if you have no resources listed you need to add one using Manage Addressbook Sources.) Click on Personal Contacts and Modify. Now tell us which directory it is pointing to.
In the original Configure KDE Resources screen, set akonadi-resource Personal as your default resource.
