Hi,

I've read most postings about issues with the addressbook in kmail/kontact, but I haven't found an issue excactly like mine:

When I start kontact, I can read and edit the personal contacts, summary view (birthdays) and e-mail filters using the addressbook work as expected.
But after a day or so leaving kontact running, the addressbook is empty and everything that is using the addressbook (summary view and e-mail filters) will not work. After quitting and then starting kontact everything works again... for a day or so.

I have this problem with 4.4.0 and 4.4.1.
Is there something wrong with my config or are the KDE devs aware of this problem and are looking for a fix?

I think it is some sort of bug. I've noticed something very similar, and now I tend to shut kontact down if I'm leaving it overnight or for other long periods. The trouble is that there is nothing obvious that we could put into a bug report. Perhaps we should open such a report anyway (assuming that it isn't already reported). If you do that, please post the bug number here, so that others can watch it.

I'm having the exact same problem. At first I thought Kontact had lost all of my data. But after restarting the application, it all reappeared again.

Im my case, the list of contacts was all still in place, just none of them contained any of the data I had put in.

Did you try opening KAddressBook as a stand-alone, before trying it again in Kontact?

True, this is also my problem. I can click on the names in the addressbook, but there is no data.

I will update my computer in a few days to the new KDE version and see if this is still the case.

It's solved a few months ago. The fix is in the mysql config file of akonadi.
I didn't know this :< because I use my own mysql config file which is not updated with an akonadi update.

For people like me that are using their own mysql config file, the fix is to add in the mysql config file (mine is /etc/mysql/my.cnf):
Code: Select all
wait_timeout=1296000
