Dear all,
I just upgraded KDE from 4.2 to 4.3 on my Slackware (4.3 is stable on my Slackware version), but I got the same error that I got in Akonadi KDE 4.2. Here are the errors from the Akonadi log"
How can I fix this? Regards, ethereal1m |

MySQL does not support running as root in the manner Akonadi uses it. I would recommend configuring a system wide instance of MySQL, and configuring Akonadi to use that.
Note that running a Desktop Environment as root is not recommended for security issues.

You need MySQL sorted first. Then you need to be sure that Nepomuk is running and that Akonadi can start up. In 4.3 most people found that they had to start Akonadi manually. In 4.4 Akonadi correctly starts up when Kontact requests it.
Most of the issues you may need to know about are covered on the following pages: http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting http://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_and_AddressBook The 'Missing Pre-Requisites' section on the troubleshooting page may be helpful - in fact anything and everything below that might be pertinent.

ok, looks like this problem occurs when I log to KDE using root account; since this is a bad practice and the problem doesn't occur on user account, I set this issue as resolved.
