ical or kde calendar?

Mon Apr 05, 2010 2:54 am
Hi,

I have a std.ics file originally from kde3's korganizer. I want to use this file in kde4.

I want to add this file in akonadi. For this I can choose between "KDE Calendar" and "ICal Calendar"... which one is better and what are the differences?

I cannot answer your exact question but, if your KDE4 std.ics is empty, you can just overwrite it with your KDE3 one.

There is also an Import option which allows you to import a std.ics though I would back up/rename your existing std.ics before you try this.

I've not come across the option to add a 'KDE calendar', yet, so I can't answer the question, either. However, adding your std.ics works without a problem. Be aware that only kaddressbook is currently controlled by akonadi. All the other modules are in preparation stages only. I'm guessing that the 'KDE calendar' may be part of that preparation. When the other modules are migrated we can expect to see their data appear under ~/.local/share/ just as the addressbook entries did.
