Using Debian Squeeze with KDE 4.3.4 and Kmail 1.12.4 I cannot use an external editor to compose emails.

In the settings I tick 'Use external editor instead of composer' then leave the default setting of 'kwrite %f'.

I think everything behaves as normal during composition ie. when I start to type in the composing window kwrite loads up and I edit the message in there instead. However clicking 'send' results in a blank email being sent, nothing seems to be transferred from the external editor (kwrite in my case) to kmail itself.

Am I doing something wrong?
