Hi,

I'm using kde-4.4.2 on kubuntu. After importing contact information I missed some birthdays and I cannot add new ones, neither by restarting kontact, kde nor linux.

How can I resync birthdays defined in addressbook with calendar?

At the moment I found with proper exports that I defined 188 birthdays in addressbook and received 74 dates in calendar.

Thanks,
Andi

Are the 188 birthdays in the addressbook that Akonadi believes to be your default? http://userbase.kde.org/KAddressBook_4. ... _Resources gives more details.

Thank you, that helped a lot for understanding.

I did some recommended changes but then I lost all changes I did the last days - a couple of hours work. I found the information by grep in virtuoso database files. Is there a chance to retrieve the current contact information from nepomuk/virtuoso?

I'm not exactly sure where you have got to. Are you saying that the birthdays were not in your Default Addressbook, and now that you have set the correct Default you can no longer see them?

If that's the case, go back into the configuration screen where you saw the resources and chose the one to be default. Find the resource that was being seen before and temporarily enable it. You should then be able to see both addressbooks, and copy the information from the old resource to the new one. You can then disable the old resource if you wish, although no harm will come from leaving it enabled until you are sure you have got everything you need.

While trying some configuration ideas I lost lot of my work on contact information of the last two weeks. But I found a vcard export from last tuesday which contains most of the changes. So I decided to setup a new akonadi environment without pre-4.4 parts and do a fresh import.

I found good instructions at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... omments/16 . These hints setup a fresh akonadi configuration. Then I started `kcmshell4 kcm_akonadi'. Only "Local Folders" were configured. I added "Personal Contacts" and many old contacts arose. I deleted all (650) which needed some minutes, after that kontact/kaddress showed strange optical behavior. I restarted kontact, it seemed good and I imported all my contact information from the previous export. Same play: It needed some time, strange optical behaviour and restart kontact. Then I added all nepomuk services at the akonadi configuration console and the "Birthday&Anniversaries". Only this and the nepomuk "Tags" became visible, the other nepomuk services cannot added a second time (grayed out). Again some minutes for sync but no restart were necessary.

Now all birthdays and anniversaries are available.

Maybe the best way for migration from pre-4.4 is by doing an export of contact/calender data, setup a fresh akonadi config and import the data. That's my recommendation after many hours investigation.
