First, please enable Nepomuk in System Settings > Advanced > Desktop Search. Strigi ( File Indexing ) is not needed.

And then on top of that i got a bunch of KDE crash handler windows telling me that Akonadi had crashed... What's going on here?

The actual problem is, as usual, MySQL being a ****.

Try this command:

mysql_install_db --datadir=$HOME/.local/share/akonadi/db_data

nevertheless I won't install mysql database in akonadi dir because I got some others.

Still regarding, I guess, this problem with akonadi, I had upgraded from kubuntu 9 to lucid 10. When I had first opened kontact, I had no view on my address book. So I had tried the process here :http://userbase.kde.org/Akonadi_4.4/Troubleshooting#Kubuntu_10.4_Upgrade

But I do not try to use external mysql database anyway. So, what I did also is putting back the ~/.local/share/akonadi directory of my previous system (i.e 9.1).
Now, whatever the kmail and korganizer is just nothing at all. From kadressbook and kontact I get this from console :

@ZeDeun: Further use of Akonadi by PIM applications is only going to continue.

An akonadi use case would be getting a new mail notification even though KMail is closed, since Akonadi is checking it in the background.

Akonadi also allows for changes to data ( such as the address book ) to show up immediately in Akonadi apps. It also vastly simplifies that process of adding support for alternate protocols ( such as Google Calendar )

Okay and more, now i can't even send emails anymore
