KMail Signature in Templates

Thu May 13, 2010 5:50 pm
Hi all,

I'm trying to set up Kmail 1.13.3 to use custom templates. I almost have it to what I want, but my signature always shows up on the very bottom of my responses, even when I use the %SIGNATURE tag. I would like my signature to be right below my response. Here is a template that I would like to use for responses:

Code: Select all
%CURSOR
--
%SIGNATURE

On %ODATE %OTIMELONG %OFROMNAME wrote:
%QUOTE

Unfortunately, my signature always gets appended to this message on the very bottom, giving a signature inserted by the template, and another that is appended automatically. Other than that, the signature inserted appears to lose any HTML formatting I have.

Is there anyway to do what I want, or should I use a different email client?
Thanks.

I had a similar problem and solved it as follows:

1 set the desired signatures for your identities
2 uncheck "Automatically insert signature" (Composer > General)
3 edit Composer > Standard Templates, for Replies I use:

Code: Select all
%REM="Default reply template"%-
%CURSOR

%SIGNATURE

On %ODATE %OTIME %OFROMADDR wrote:
%QUOTE

This way signatures are inserted only for identities which have signatures, and I don't get double signatures.

However, the template containing %SIGNATURE somehow doesn't work with "New Message" button from KMail toolbar, but if you use the "New Message" button added manually to the toolbar, it works. Very strange!

I hope it helps!

Cheers,

Luke
