Hello all,
I have a weird problem that has to do with kmail and email attachements. I have my site and email accounts hosted in doteasy company. When i try to send an email with a pdf attachement of about 2 mb, although i get no error, it is never sent to the recipient. If the same email is sent via windows/outlook, linux/thunderbird or the webmail of the host company, there is no problem at all. If i try to send the email again from kmail but using my gmail account, there is no problem at all. In conclusion, there seems to be a conflict with my host and kmail. Is there any setting of kmail that has to do with attachements? I have to mention that all the smpt settings(about encryption, port, etc) are what the host company suggests. Any suggestion? Thank you in advance. |

After numerous tests i realized that my problem has to do with identities of kmail.
I have two identities for my basic email, a greek and a universal. Their difference is the language of my name and the language of my signature. That what is really weird is that i have no problem sending from my universal identity, but my greek is not functional with many attachements. I tried creating a new identity by duplicating my universal just to see what is happening and neither the new one is functional. With every other email account, there is no problem at all. All these tests show me that i have to do with a bug of kmail. The result is i trust no more kmail for my business. |

are you using any "special transport" settings for one Identity or another?
besides your multiple Identities, do you have multiple sending/receiving accounts? |

I have 5 identities and 4 email accounts. 2 identites are for the problematic email account.
no i do not use anything special. |

Mikes: if you duplicated the problematic account, you duplicated the problem. The only reasonable test is to set up a clean account to do the same job. Hopefully, as you do that you'll realise what it is that is different from the accounts that work correctly. Then you will either be able to change your setting to make it work, or have some reasonable evidence to submit to a bug report.

I duplicated the working identity.
After lots and lots of hours of investigation, i realized that there's (again) problem with my hosts smtp server. The problem doesn't have to do with kmail as it seems, but with the spam filter of my host(and as it seems the spam filter recognizes different signatuers, etc). I have been running lots of tests with different files/different email clients etc, and after contacting the technical support of doteasy, i wish i will find the solution. In conclusion, i was wrong i said that i do not trust kmail. Thank you all for your answers. |

I hate that it took hours of investigation, but sometimes that is needed. More over, i am glad you found where the problem was occurring.
