Hi, every time I start up Kontact I get a self test message as follows:
If I close Kontact before the self-test completes Kontact will crash resulting in me having to kill the process and usually before shutting down I will get an Akonadi error before shutdown. If I let the self-test complete Kontact will not crash and I do not get an error before shut down. Is this self-test every time I start Kontact really necessary? Is there a way to disable the self test, if not how do I fix this issue? Thanks in advance. |

Please start Akonadi before starting Kontact. This is caused by a bug in the self-test as it does not wait for Akonadi to finish starting up before commencing testing. This is fixed in KDE 4.5.
You can use the following command to start Akonadi:
KDE Sysadmin

Thanks, does this make Akonadi autostart or will I have to do this every time I reboot? Thanks again. |

It will even be fixed in the next 4.4.x release.
That is if there is another one (I think there was a decision to releas 4.4.5, but I am not sure). Cheers, _
