Hi all.
I have set a disconnected imap account with GMail. Kmail has automatically created a [GMail] folder, in which all others folder (sent, incoming, spam...) are contained. I'd like to avoid this further level and "promote" all the folders, deleting the [GMail] one. Moreover i didn't understand which could be the practical difference in modifying local or server subscription. Could you make me two examples to clarify the point? Thanks. PS how do i send an attachment in topics? |

First off, Kmail did not create that gmail folder. those folders, have been set up on the server side. you may have other folders as well, that correspond to the "labels" in the gmail webUI.
within your Identity setup and the account setup, you can manage which folders to be used for your trash, drafts and sent. I usually change these to be the remote folder, in your case the gmail/ subfolders. i'm not an official voice on the difference in the local vs server subscription, but i typically just do the local subscription on my gmail account. take care, |

thanks, i think i've solved, but it was more tricky than i expected.
setting the folder was easy, following your suggestions, but setting two different accounts was quite messy it became a "logical" issue: how kmail choose which smtp server to use? i think it compare the email address with the identity one. so for each identity, you have to set an own IN and OUT server... so why they distinguished identities with account?there's no logical distinction! did i misunderstand? |

You can designate a "Special Transport" within the Identity. So the if you send from foo1@gmail.com, it will use foo1 smtp account.
otherwise, it may use a default SMTP, and mask the message as it came from foo1@gmail.com |

The difference between server side and local subscriptions is that server side subscriptions apply to all clients accessing the account while local subscriptions are handled by each client by itself.

I found this answer about the [Gmail] folder/label on Google's forum. http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=4e1e91635200ae10&hl=en |
