I usually do this using an archive.
and unpacking on the other installation
You can even include config files, e.g.
Or maybe pack the whole kde directory. Cheers, _

Yes, the Google Summer of Code student I am mentoring is working on an Import/Export tool on top of Akonadi. We'll see how far we get, we are currently focusing on the Backup&Restore use case for Akonadi. Cheers, _

I hope you'll have the opportunity to get through, this would benefit us all . By the way about the import feature that 's already there : would you rather extract the archive and paste it in the new installation under .kde ... Or would you use the menu from Kmail to import (?) (the drop down menu in kmail mentions that you can import using : -kmail archive file -messages and directories structure of kmail )

I always use the archive approach, for backup and restore. Worked everytime so far (my KMail setup is from early 2000).
