My kmail just stopped sending

Thu Aug 12, 2010 2:39 am
Hi!

I'm running kmail 1.9.9 under KDE 3.5.9 and Kubuntu 8.04. I've used kmail for several years without problems. Then a few days ago, it just stopped sending out my outgoing mails. Incoming mails arrive just fine. I use the smpt protocol for outgoing mails to a remote mail server.

I've tried looking for a kmail log file but couldn't find any.I can't see anything unusual in the messages that flash when I check my mail.

I've tried change from "Send later" to "Send now", and my outgoing messages stay in my outbox.

I will appreciate any suggestion how to go about finding out what the problem is and how I might solve it.

Thanks and greetings,

Roberto

If you press "Check Mail Now" does any error message or progress notification appear to indicate the fact it is trying to send your emails?

Have you tried removing and adding your SMTP server again?

Have you checked your outgoing settings, in case an update has lost them? Most distros use /var/log/maillog, and I think both incoming and outgoing messages are logged there, so it's worth looking.
