Akonodi failure

Thu Aug 12, 2010 6:49 pm
When I attempt to launch Kontact or Kaddressbook, I get the following error message from Akonodi:

Test 9: ERROR
--------

Akonadi control process not registered at D-Bus.
Details: The Akonadi control process is not registered at D-Bus which typically means it was not started or encountered a fatal error during startup.

If you could tell me how to launch Kaddressbook without using Akonodi, I would appreciate it.

Can you please provide the output of the following two commands?

Code: Select all
cat ~/.local/share/akonadi/akonadiserver.error
cat ~/.local/share/akonadi/akonadi_control.error

It appears that Akonadi's MySQL server is failing to start. Please remove ~/.local/share/akonadi/db_misc/ outside KDE.

I removed the file using CLI/root. No change; same error message.

Kaddress will not load, Kontact will load but does not display contacts.

Re: Akonodi failure [SOLVED]  Topic is solved

Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:55 am
I googled "Akonadi control process not registered at D-Bus" and found a forum which suggested: "I add "user=root" in the Akonadi local mysql configuration file (on my computer, it is /root/.local/share/akonadi//mysql.conf), and Akonadi server can be started successfully."

When I looked up that file, I noticed a suggestion that local changes could be put in a file "HOME/.config/akonadi/mysql-local.conf" I put "user=root" there (after creating said file) and it now works.
