Hello,
I have a problem with IMAP servers in kmail. After updating my system, the connection to IMAP servers doesn't work anymore. The message from the notification is: The process for the imaps://servername protocol died while the output on the console is: KMFolderImap::slotListNamespaces: Got no connection The update involved seemingly unrelated packages, plus something about authentication and crypting (OpenSSL, Kerberos, PAM, cyrus-sasl). This happens with all my three different IMAP servers, one of them using "imap" protocol and TSL, the other two "imaps" and SSL (whatever it means). POP servers work just fine. I've tried to recompile kmail, libkdepim and kdepimlibs (parroting package names here, I have no idea of what I am doing...). None of my IMAP servers accepts a connection with no encryption. I don't know how to get more information about this problem. Please help me telling me how to extract more information about this error... or by pointing me to the components that are related to IMAP (kioslaves?). Thank you. My system is Gentoo/Linux, KDE 4.4.5 (kmail 1.13.5). |

Have you tried recreating the IMAP connections? ( ie. delete them from KMail and add them again )

I tried to create a new one (I am afraid of loosing something if I clumsily delete the thing) with the same settings as the existing ones.
Same error. I wish I had a direct way to test what's wrong with KDE connecting to the IMAP servers. |

It seems the POP3 connections don't work as well, after all.
Can anybody suggest how to debug the problem of these dying protocols? The only insecure connection with a POP server I use still works. I was using OpenSSH 1.00a, now I downgraded to 0.98 but I have still a problem. Maybe I should recompile some KDE component related to SSL? which are they? Or maybe SSL has nothing to do with the secure connections? As a side note, SSH (+ Kerberos5) still works. |

Qt is responsible for providing KDE's SSL, so I would check there.

... and we have a winner.
Actually two, since I'm getting e-mails again. Recompiling Qt (libQtNetwork.so in qt-core, version 4.6.3 for me) seems to have solved the issue. Thank you for your support. |
