Hi, I am running openSUSE 11.2 with KDE upgraded to 4.5.1.
Apart from POPing emails from my gMail account and using gMail as an SMTP host, nothing else to do with Google and akonadi seems to work. I attempt to add a contact address book. I get told I have the wrong password - I do not (I found somewhere that there was a bug with KWallet and akonadi with google - but this does not appear to be resolved and I cannot find this bug/forum entry again). I can see the address book (with the red x) in the Manage Address book sources window, but not in Kontact's contact page. Next I try to add Google Calander as a calendar. Same deal. Does anyone know of any work arounds for this? Or is there some way to key akonadi to not use kwallet for the address book? |

About Google Calender I was able to get it working on Kubuntu with the help of this very helpful post here : http://www.theirishpenguin.com/2010/02/ ... mic-koala/
But notable this is for Kubuntu. I am not sure whether it can work on OpenSuse or not. |

Hi, sorry this doesn't help. I'm pretty sure I am experiencing an issue with akonadi and kwallet. When I define the Google Address Book in Akonadi's config I get asked for my gmail username and password, but not for my kwallet password. So it appears not to be storing the password, hence why it is saying invalid password.
I suspect that openSUSE may have bungled the packaging since the forums seem to be full of people discussing the nuances of working gcal connections - but no openSUSE users. |

I am thinking about converting to OpenSuse 11.3 by this weekend. May be by then we can find out a solution of this issue. ![]() Again this might not be of any help but did you checked out whether kwallet is really storing the password or not? You can find that list from kde wallet manager > kdewallet > Settings > Configure wallet > Access control tab. There you may find the whole list of apps that are stored there. |

Found a solution.
(And by the way DON'T upgrade to openSUSE 11.3. 11.3 uses the whole new X11 and most of the drivers for graphics cards have a bug that causes the whole system to freeze VERY often - perhaps after as little as 10 mins, about the most the system will last is 2 hours). The solution can be found at http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get- ... nizer.html. Specifically reply #6 (ignore the earlier replies as they don't end up fixing it). This has bugged me for almost a year and the solution is so simple. |

Lots of thanks djm for updating me about the issue. Yes, in one of my another system I also noticed the freezing issue.
But because I had a good previous experience with an earlier version of Opensuse, I actually already ended up by installing Suse 11.3 and still in the process of tuning it the way I want it. Hope it all works good. I have bookmarked the link you have send me, that will be a big help when the issue happens. ![]() Thanks. |

Have you managed to find a fix for the freezing issue?
The only fix I can find is specific to Intel graphics cards and I have an ATI Radeon card. |

Sorry djm, I may not be of any help here because I am yet to encounter this freezing issue as of now. May be I have just installed. Moreover I am on Intel graphics.
About ATI Radeon Card, when I was on Kubuntu, about 3-4 days back they upgraded to 4.5.1 (beta 10.10 with kde from backports), and in that update I think I saw some updates on ATI cards. I am not too sure about it. May be you can search for this issue on Suse and hope you find a solution friend. |

On the freezing issue, I thought (after a few weeks of sticking to 11.2) that I would try my neglected 11.3 partition again. I booted up and tried to run OnlineUpdate. During the update it froze. I repeated this twice until all updates had been installed. I noted that both the kernel and the x11-server were updated during this.
I found also that ATI had released a new proprietary ati Radeon HD driver. I then installed this too. I rebooted and wow - the freezing issue seems to have gone away. No freezes after several hours. ![]() |
