KMail2 inbox flooded

Sun Sep 12, 2010 12:01 am
Hi!

I always use trunk-snapshots, so I use KMail2, too.
While migration something went wrong with my filters and now I have two directories floodod with 10000s of mailing-list-mails, normally they should be organized into sub-directories. Although I have recreated them, they are not applied and all old ml-mails have been put into the same dir, too. Opening such a dir will probably take hours, I always stopped it after some hours and there were a lot of mails missing, and I can also get problems with the GUI when the slow Akonadi has to process so many EMails (sometimes it freezes). So it would be an impossible task to query the ml-mails and move them to the right directory manually. Is there any way to do this with a single command from CLI? Then I could do it overnight and after that it may be possible to find some mails (e.g. for unsubscription, reading parts of ruby-talk is impossible with KMail2).
I have heard Akonadi should improve performance by some caching. How is it possible that processing a single EMail takes 100ms (order of magnitude) just because of a new abstraction-layer with some caching?

I would recommend asking on the KDE PIM development list about this problem: kde-pim@kde.org

The weird thing is that I can't come up with any way mails from different folders would end up in a single one because of migration.

"KMail folders" migration just maps on disk directories into Akonadi collections, it doesn't even load mails until such a collection is listed, e.g. by KMail.

It will load the old KMail index and store minimal items in Akonadi to preserve flags if new mails are added to a collection or mails are modified.
Depending on the indexing setting of the Nepomuk email feeder this could cause mails to be loaded, but again not into the same folder.

Maybe there is some kind of broken filter that moved all messages into the same folder?

Cheers,

Hmm, maybe it is a very weird bug, a side-effect of something being fixed now, I do not know.
However: I think I can some kind manage it to move all the mails, but the filters are still inactive, I configured a POP3-account to move all mails into a special folder (in the pop-settings there is an option to do that), that works, but after that the mails are not recognized by filters, configured to care about mails from this account. All of them go into the same folder without filtering…

Can you provide a list / screenshot of your filters please?
