since the upgrade to Kmail2 I can no longer receive email (sending is fine)! All the account settings seem OK except that the password fields for each account are blank. But these fields are greyed out and so I cannot edit them.
However, I am not getting any error message regarding passwords or anything.

Same thing here.
Migrating the existing emails worked. IMAP Agent reports: all is fine. Restarting with akonadiconsole doesn't help. Clicking "Syncronize Folder" or "Check Emails" doesn't do anything. Even the kmail-progressbar isn't shown. Additionally by clicking an email-folder, kmail takes about 1-2 minutes to show them. |

If you click on the blue arrow to the left of the progress bar then a progress bar will appear for each email account. On mine they are all stuck at 0% and it says "Preparing transmission for..."
That USED to happen after the initial upgrade but now the folders show almost instantly. After the upgrade there is some sort of indexing that takes a VERY long time (i.e. 1-2 DAYS!)

My bottom status bar is completely empty except the "Ready"-Text and has no blue arrow. For me this check-buttons really do _nothing_. It's like I never clicked anything.
For me it's every first click on a Folder after starting kontact. |

Below is an image of what I get, the "Preparing transmission from..." just stays there permanently.

I'm having the same issue with kmail 4.6 rc1. Interestingly I can download the mail if I remove the hanging transfer (click on the "red minus") and press "check mail" again.

I had this problem too with 4.6 final. I solved it by deleting and recreating all the accounts. Now it's working perfectly.

Stale configurations have been causing many issues. Recreating accounts that exist remotely is the best thing to do in this case.

I have the same problem, but restoring from online account is not possible. The server does not have the email any more.
I filed several bug reports, one of them is exactly about these problems. I hope these issues get fixed soon. |

Actually I didn't lose any email: I didn't have to delete inbox folders, but just the accounts (login names, passwords, server urls). I configured the new accounts to put received email in the same folder as the old ones and everything worked as expected.
