I have just re-installed my pc to clean up problems.

Kubuntu 10.04, KDE 4.5.1 - everything updated

Before the re-installation, I backed up everything under /home as well as a lot of other things after making sure all packages were up to date.

After re-installing I used this guide to restore the PIM data:

http://userbase.kde.org/KMail/FAQs_Hint ... machine.29

The mail is working fine. So is calendar and the to-do list.

BUT - the addressbook is not working. No addressbooks are showing.

I have had some problems with the addressbook and after adding back the data from the backup, nothing shows. I am sure the data is there, so I just need to find out how to display it.

Also, when I send a mail and start typing an address, the names etc. pop up, so Kmail obviously knows where to get it's addresses from.

I do have a problem with Nepomuk not registering with d-bus, but I am not sure if I should register this in a separate thread or keep it here...

Have you restarted Akonadi? Also, try making sure that the appropriate Address Book has been added in Akonadi.

I have restarted Akonadi several times. Both via the tray icon and by re-booting my pc. It actually look like Akonadi is ok. There are some previous errors in logs, but things look ok.

Just checked MySQL with phpmyadmin to see if the tables have been created and things look ok there.

How can I make sure the appropriate address book has been added in Akonadi?

You can check the Akonadi resources as follows: Open Akonadi Tray > Configure. Open the Akonadi Resource Configuration tab. Check the contact resources, and see if one of them points to your contacts file / folder. You may need to create one if needed.

Yes, there is a resource called "Personal Contacts" and it is pointing to

/home/xxxx/.local/share/contacts/

This folder has a lot of .vcf files and the number of files matches the number of my contacts.

But no addressbook showed up in the addressbook. So I thought it might not be bad to to try something. I still have a backup of the contacts, so nothing bad can happen...

In addressbook, I added an addressbook. It came up just like the one resource that is there already, but at least it made an icon called "Personal Contacts" in the addressbook.Clicking on this one and all my contacts were back! :-)

But now I have two Personal Contact resources in the Akonadi tray app and would love to clean it up. Probably just delete one and see what happens. If I delete the wrong one, I just need to delete the other and start over again? :-)

I'll make another thread about the Nepomuk problems.

That is correct, the one that existed beforehand can probably be deleted.

You said earlier that you had 'not connected to D-BUS errors' - did you get that solved?
