Contact Empty

Tue Sep 21, 2010 9:45 pm
Two days ago I added a new contact. Ever since, my Contacts list has been empty. When I try to add a contact, I get the message "There is no resource available". I can address email ok with my address book appearing ok.

There is no lock file in ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/lock just the directory.

I have std.vcf and std.vcf__1 in ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc

the contents of these files are complete and not empty.

I have read through the previous post about similar experiences and have not been able to solve my problem.

I am running Kontact Version 1.2.9 and KAddressBook 3.5.9 on OpenSuse 11.0

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like an operation failed to complete...
First, close all PIM applications, and backup those two files.

Then, determine which one contains the new contact, and remove it ( keep the backup! ). Ensure you have only one file, std.vcf at the end, renaming the file if needed.

Then start Kontact and see if it works.

That did not solve the problem.

Unfortunate. Open KControl, and find "KDE Resources". Switch to contacts, ensure that any resources listed are ticked.

I can not find KControl either from the menu or typing the command as root.

Run "kcontrol". It may be called "Configure Desktop" or something similar in the menu.
