As of ... some time ago, whenever I try to write a new message in Kmail, it freezes and crashes after a minute.

If I run it from the terminal the message I get when it freezes is;

I was reading the forum for a hint about this issue and everything points to an akonadi problem.

However, as far as I can see

akonadictl status

says things are running. I tried stoping / restarting akonadi, logging out from kde, but there is no effect.

I'm using arch linux, kde 4.5.1 and KMail 1.13.5.

Any ideas?

Wild guess - could it be looking for a dictionary and not finding it?

Well the dictionary is there. I have aspell installed.

Which Nepomuk backend are you using? If you are using Virtuoso, check to see if it is using large amounts of CPU once KMail is frozen.

If it is, ensure you are up to date.
