Hi !
I am new to KOrganizer and I would like to import a remote calendar; But I can't see any options for this in my 4.4.6 version. Please note that I have kdepim-kresources installed. |

Woah ! Solved. But it is really not intuitive. You have to declare a new agenda in akonadi. And next go to KDE ressources to set this one as default. And when you launch KOrganizer again, the default agenda is loaded, the one from my remote file.
But how can I manage different agendas from akonadi without going to KDE ressources each time ? How can I choose which one to display or not within KOrganizer ? Thanks |

Well, I'm glad I found this, as I was having the same problem. What I did was to point akonadi to the URL. Then in Korganizer, I then invoked "add calendar" and selected akonadi. That added akonadi to the list of calendars, with subitems for each one defined to akonadi. (I only have the one, so I'm not absolutely certain it will do more than one, but it looks like it will.) Then, you can check or uncheck the display of each one as you choose - from directly within Korganizer.

Unless you are using the beta of Kontact2 you should not need to touch Akonadi configuration for your calendar. In the Calendar section, at the bottom left you should have a panel labelled Calendars. Hit the + at the top of that section, and you can tell it that you want a calendar in a remote file, and point it to the remote address. I have my calendar on my LAN server. Saving new entries is slower than a local calendar would be but otherwise I have no issues.
Akonadi does not control your calendar in the mainstream Kontact.

I don't know why I never saw your reply.... However, I use korganizer 4.4.8 (I don't use Kontact [4.4.8 installed] directly) and see no reference to Kontact2 anywhere (I'm on Gentoo). In my calendar, I see no panel with a list of calendars or any + to add one. Under Settings/Sidebar, I do see "Show Calendar Manager" but toggling it has no visible effect. I'm actually now upgrading both to 4.4.9, so I'll check again after the upgrade completes. Might I have a configuration issue?

Where can I find up to date documentation on korganizer? I now have 4.4.9, but my doc (on Gentoo) is still from 2005, and pretty obviously not applicable. I seem to have recently lost access to one of my remote calendars - and I can't figure out where to add it back.
Thanks for any pointers. |

Try userbase.kde.org Although it's very outdated (I've been thinking of updating the documentation for some time but I can't seem to find the right moment :S ) Regards

Damnshock - I did check userbase, but it didn't have what I need/want. Updating it would be a great idea.
However, I need to correct an earlier statement. It turns out the calendar manager pane IS present, but only becomes visible it I go to Settings/Sidebar and disable everything else. In fact, after discovering that and playing for a while, it seems that the sidebar is like a VBOX, but by default, only one item in it is visible. If you hunt, you can find the dividers and drag them to show everything. Perhaps I did it to myself in the past, but it was not obvious that there was something present but effectively hidden. Annew - now that I can see the calendar manager, if I hit "+" the only types I see to add are akonadi, Bugzilla To-do List, Local File, and Local Directory. I tried the local file, but it would not accept a URL. At one point in my attempts it said something about KDE being built without zeroconf support. I'm on Gentoo, so I suppose I could find the right configuration and rebuild stuff, but I'd like to have some confidence that is really the issue. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

@ostroffjh - you should have many more options than that, one of which is Calendar in a remote file. Sorry, but I don't know what might be missing. Your best bet would be to go on IRC, channel #akonadi, and ask the developers.
@HGHDonavan - we need to know much more about what you see and don't see, what you've tried, etc.. It would be a good idea to open a separate topic, though.

I noticed this as well, and would have NEVER found where to add a new calendar if you had not found this I will check later to see if this is a reported bug, or if the issue has been addressed in Kontact releases post 4.4.9. |

Can you guys add suggestions and/or mockups of how it should be? Here's the link: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=302763

Every time I return to this problem/issue, I just seem to get more confused. I'm now on Korganizer 4.8.3. In the calendar manager pane, I don't see a "+" anywhere, but the right click context menu does include "add calendar." However, the only choices are Birthdays & Anniversaries, DAV groupware resource, ICal Calendar File, KAlarm Calendar File, KAlarm Directory, KDE Calendar (traditional), Knut, Kolab Groupware Server, and Open-Xchange Groupware Server.
At this point, I no longer remember exactly what I was trying to do six months ago - and I do not appear to have any remote calendar included in my display. I'll have to hunt around for a reminder and see if I can add it again. @sergio.martins: I don't have any specific suggestions except to make it more obvious. It doesn't seem bad now (i.e., I do see the list of calendars, and right clicking includes an "add calendar" item. "Add calendar" is also found within "configure korganizer" which seems reasonable to me. I don't know if things have changed in the past six months or if I just now know better where to look. |
