I've always had this problem where KMail never notifies me about new mails for certain accounts. I have configured four accounts, all using IMAP. One ISP provided account, the rest are gmail accounts. For some reason, I only get new mail notifications from the ISP provided account, but never from gmail accounts.

Have I missed any setting in KMail? Or is it a known issue? I'm using KDE SC 4.5.2, but this has always been the case throughout KDE4 history.

This should work on all accounts, regardless of the provider. If you remove and add one of the GMail accounts, does it then work for that account?

Ok, problem solved after installing Arch packaged KDE instead of using KDEmod.

As it turns out, it's not completely solved...

What actually happens is that I am only notified about the new mails received in the "inbox" folder currently selected in KMail. New mails from other accounts are not included in the notification.

If this is how it works in KMail, I think it needs to be improved. The way it currently works makes no sense to me.

If it's not an isolated issue, I'll file a bug report on this.

If you open the folder preferences, it may be possible to enable notifications on them ( ie. right click on Folder > Properties > ... )

If you are referring to "Act on new/unread mail in this folder", it is enabled for all inbox folders.

When you see new mail notifications, do you see something like
1 new mail in GMail/inbox
2 new mails in MyISP/inbox

or do you see just the new mail in GMail if GMail inbox is currently selected? This is what happens to me, only the folder that's selected triggers new mail notification, others don't.
