Running Ubuntu 10.10 now, but same problems with 10.04.
Kmail Version 1.13.5 I'm having problems with Akonadi and kmail . Not only trying to fix this but to understand it. 'Use internal MySQL server' is checked. When I execute the Test button I get errors. Previously I had MySQL installed in my LAMP server for local website testing. The akonadi server and MySQL appear to be running, and in addition to things that work, here is a short list of things that look suspicious to me. - Akonadi is not running as root - MySQL server log contains error (I can include other details) - Nepomuk not registered at D-Bus Where do I start in order to understand this. Should I be trying to get Nepomuk running first ? Should Akonadi be running as root ? Thanks for any advice or request for additional information. |

Thank you for the references which I have looked at. I can't find my help there.
When I start the akonadi server from the command line the first error I see is "Nepomuk Query Server not available". However, when I run Ubuntu "system monitor" a process called nepomukserver is present. I am finding very little information on Nepomuk. Any help here ? I do use kmail by working around these errors. It would be easier to just use the native solution for gnome, but there are several features of kmail that I really like. |

Akonadi runs per user, and should not be run as root.
I suggest you ensure that "Virtuoso" is installed, and being used. What is the output of:
KDE Sysadmin

Ok, please enable Nepomuk. You do not need to have Strigi enabled. This can be done from System Settings.

The instructions made sense but only after I installed the kde desktop as an alternative desktop.
