KMail does not connect to server after upgrade to 4.6-rc1

Hi folks,

Since I upgraded to 4.6-rc1 (actually, I use Gentoo and this happened from the time I started upgrading), KMail stopped connecting to my IMAP server. First the weird thing was that I would not see any new emails (but I see them arrive in fetchmail's log). After that I tried to remove an account and re-add it, and if I click the autodetect button it gets to 45% and throws "unable to connect to server".

Of course the server address is fine and I can connect (it's on my LAN and IMAP service is up and running). I even tried with a new user and a clean home but still I cannot connect. Any ideas? Is this a known bug?

Thanks in advance

Which IMAP server do you use and which version of it? Also, what type of security options do you use?

I have Dovecot-1.2.16 with SSL and PLAIN login. The server is on my LAN and perfectly accessible.

I used to use Courier before, I can try with that one if you think is related, though I wouldn't settle for going back to Courier as there's no Sieve support there.

Ok switched to Courier-Imap and it worked. Had to re-add the account to make it work.

However I really don't like using Courier since it does not support Sieve. What should I do? Upgrade Dovecot to the latest version?

I suggest filing a bug, as KMail should work with Dovecot. It probably supports some options, or does things in a certain way which the new KMail is incompatible with.

Upgraded to Dovecot-2.0 and after a few tweaks to the IMAP server it works fine, so maybe it was an incompatibility with Dovecot-1.2.
