akregator - labels

Fri Dec 31, 2010 4:11 pm
Hi,

I've used akregator for years and have always been extremely happy with it. But now I require a whole bunch of different labels for my messages. Search as I may, I cannot find this feature.

So here the question(s):

1) does such a feature exist?
2) if not, is it in the works?
3? if no is the answer to both 1 and 2, is there an RSS-reader out there capable of different labels?

Many thanks in advance :)

I use Opera as a rss-reader as it does labels/virtual folders

ImageJPEG, 562x471px, 44 KB (0.04 MB)

I believe Thunderbird and Liferea have them also. Seem to recall they were once planned for akregator but doesn't seem it was ever implemented.

Cheers,

just found RSSowl as well. I suppose opera looks fine in kde, but I don't use it at all otherwise and seems like the total overkill to install an email client, web browser and RSSreader for just one function. Same goes for thunderbird.

Liferea and RSSowl are unfortunately not qt based and therefore ugly. Would be nice to get a qt app - am just installing leechcraft (but again one of those 'do-it-all-apps') which I found in http://www.qt-apps.org

Shame that akregator hasn't kept up with the rest of the RSS readers, but RSSOwl is quite simply fantastic.

Update - leechcraft I didn't fully understand, but that was because it offered bag loads of functionality which I wasn't interested in.

Opera I tried to use as a browser as well but even though it version 11 claimed extensions such as LastPass and NoScript I was not able to activate them properly. So a no-go there as well.

At the current time RSSOwl is still the leader of the pack, although I can only suggest that akregator users who wish full functionality support this bug: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139540
