KMail and bash

Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:26 pm
Hey there guys.
Is there any way to send an e-mail via kmail directly using a bash script?

When i do this,

Code: Select all
kmail "$EMAIL" -s "$SUBJECT" --body "$(cat "currentip.html")"

KMail comes up with my predefined mail but i still have to click the send button. Is there any undocumented option for sending the mail via an smtp-account i already configured in KMail so i don't have to click the send button?

i don't want to install and configure an MTA on my system. it's too much overhead for what i want.
If you have any other ideas on sending an e-mail via my googlemail account: thanks :)

According to "kmail --help" this is not possible, although other utilities shipped with KMail may be able to do this.

The source of KMail for 4.4 versions can be found in KDE SVN: http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/4.4/kdepim/kmail

For 4.5 and later, it is in Git, and can be browsed at: http://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kdepim/repository/
