Each time I open KMail for the first time (after starting KDE), the selection in the message list looks weird to me.
When I have new e-mails, I would have expected that the first or the last of these new messages was selected. If I don't have new messages, the most recent message should be selected. It looks to me that now the latest message which doesn't have a fancy date, is selected. I tried to change the date display from Fancy Format to Localized Format and Standard Format but it doesn't change anything. To explain myself a bit better, I posted a screenshot on the web: http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/3287/kmail.png This screenshot is taken right after KDE is started and when I have opened KMail by clicking on the envelope icon in the bottomright corner. As you can see the message with timestamp "20/11/11 23:49" is selected. I would have expected that the message at top with timestamp "Today 00:32:57". An extra weird thing is that the message at the top at first wasn't visible because the scrollbar was not at the top but somewhat in the middle. I had to manually move the scrollbar upwards to see the new e-mail. Is there a parameter somewhere in KMail to change this way of selecting? I'm using KMail 1.13.6 and KDE 4.6 under Arch Linux. Kind regards |

Try checking KMail's settings. On the Misc page you should see a place to select the action when you open KMail. I prefer it to be "last read message" but you probably prefer "first new message".
