I ran into the nvidia problem when I moved from kde 4.5.95 to kde 4.6.0, getting the floating point exception.
After much hair tearing I reverted to a clean install of 11.3, kde 4.4.4. I'm now having problems with kmail and akonadi akonadi is showing install errors, including d-bus registration and mysql errors kmail is downloading email happily from my ISP but any attempt to compose, edit or send freezes kmail/kontact. I've assumed I've got default setting compatibility problems somewhere in .kde4 (after all it's a clean install but as we know /home is unaffected) Despite a slash and burn policy to anything that isn't my stored emails I'm not really getting anywhere. Apart from the kmail problem the clean install is sweet. I've created a new account which is not showing any of the problems I've successfully copied my emails to that new account but I have permission problems (I've never really got the hang of chown) I'm trying to devise a strategy: May I ask for help with permissions (and chown?) in my new account (I'll then simply delete the old one)? What about a guide to slash and burn in .kde4? Anything else? Grateful for help/advice, please SOLUTION If only I'd read the post a few below mine about deleting the akonadi resources - thank you |

Hello
If i have understand right, after the clean install, you had remove all the folders except from the /home... Right? If yes, then the kmail is trying to read the settings from the kde 4.6... So the config files which they have been left, they are creating the issue... Kmail is using the IMAP and SMTP protocol to download/sent the emails... So why do you copy the emails? |
