To have the notifications for new email i set in kmail to have the system tray icon active.
I use kontact for email, news, calendar and rss (akregator). If i shutdown the pc when i use akregator, after reboot kmail it is nt launched so the icon it is int in the system tray and i have to run kmail (clic on it in kontact)

I think that it is nt normal as the kmails system tray icon should be always there independently of kontact

When you reboot your pc is the kmail open or closed? In my laptop if it is open, then when the kmail open in the tray... If it is closed before the reboot, then it remains closed... Which is the version of your kmail? I am using opensuse 11.3 and kmail 1.13.5.

actualy what happens is that after reboot if in kontact i had the kmail tab active in the next boot i have the system tray icon. If i dont have the kmail tab active i dont have the icon. I think that this behaviour has to be reviewed

It is probable that KMail is not fully loaded until you click on it in Kontact.
