This is a problem I've had with various versions of kmail (running from kdepim) for a long time now, and I've never found a solution:
Can anyone advise how to stop kmail automatically sending an MDN (message disposition notification) when it filters a message?. The filter is forwarding a copy to another (local) user. So - it forwards the emails OK, but it sends an MDN without being asked to AND without asking me. Is this a bug? thanks in advance. Info: My MDN policy setting is "ASK" under the <settings><configure-kmail> menu, security <reading> sub-tab and also quote-original-message="nothing" and 'do NOT send MDNs in repsonse to encrypted messages' is checked.(not that any of this is encrypted) HOWEVER the original email (the one I filter to forward a copy of) does NOT ask for an MDN in the header. The emails triggering the problem always seem to be from a mailing list. I cannot say if there is any content related (eg HTML) connection. I pick up email from an IMAP account, but used to have the same problem with a previous pop3 connection. Although I'm currently on the system below, I've also had the problem with suse 10.x and i586 arch builds (KDE 3.x). I'm currently running: KMAIL 1.9.10 Kontact 1.2.9 KDE 3.5.10 release 21.13.1 opensuse 11.1 (x86_64) Linux 2.6.27.56-0.1-default x86_64 |

This is indeed a bug, unless the mail filtering is passed through an external app, which could be causing the MDN to be sent. In any case, if KMail itself is doing it, please file a bug report.
