That is, KMail no longer showing the text I have selected from an original message which I am replying to, or the whole of the original message (if no text selected), in the compose window.

Was working, how to get back?

As I have just written on the kde-user mailing list:

Settings > Configure KMail > Composer > Standard Templates

Presumably you have lost your templates. This is what they should say:

New Message:
%REM="Default new message template"%-
%BLANK

Reply to Sender:
%REM="Default reply template"%-
On %ODATE %OTIMELONG you wrote:
%QUOTE
%CURSOR

Reply to All/Reply to List:
%REM="Default reply all template"%-
On %ODATE %OTIMELONG %OFROMNAME wrote:
%QUOTE
%CURSOR

Forward Message:

Weird, because only two folders prior to youyr fix were showing selected text - these folders were both filtered by Mailing List.
