KMail converts animated gif to PNG.
Is there any option or solution ,how to disable converting animated gif to PNG ? I want to just send one message with animated gif smilies to my wife, and I'm unable to find any option. PLC ![]() |

I don't know what is causing your problem, but it's certainly not normal behaviour. I can't test the animated gif, as I don't have any, but I sent myself a .jpg and it arrived as a .jpg. What version of KMail (and from what distro/KDE version) are you using?

KDE 4.5.1 Kubuntu Maverick 10.10 I already found the bugs about html composer in KMail, there is the problem. Of course , when I send message in plain text with attached gif , that works properly , but with composed HTML message, it converts all kind of images JPG,GIF.. to PNG. On KDE, I found junior job for this problem. Just dodgy KMail is not good for HTML messages. Thanks for respond ![]() |

html mail has never been a priority for KMail, due to the security risks involved, but I understand that KMail2 will have better support for it.

All I can say is that I've received html messages with gifs attached. Maybe it's because I don't enable html that I've never seen this problem. As I said, the original KMail, the one in current releases, is not designed for html content, so problems with it are unsurprising.
