HI All,
I'm using KDE 4.5.3 on Mepis 11RC1. I was not able to get KMail to succesfully connect with my GMail accounts. It seemed able to read messages in IMAP but I could not get it to send messages. Eventually I gave up and went back to Thunderbird (IceDove). Is it worth struggling with KMail any more? I see a few posts that it's going to be different when the new version based on Akonadi comes out. After looking into it, it seems to be a great way to integrate all of my PIM needs with my desktop and eventually a mobile device, but if it ain't fully baked yet I'll wait on the sidelines. Any advice is appreciated. Thunderbird set up the GMail account effortlessly, I don't understand why it seemed so impossible with KMail, even when I used the exact same settings... Best, Chris |

fwiw - I'm in the same boat as you. I migrated to TB some four months ago and will not try Kontact before it has been ported and plays along nicely with akonadi (apparently in one of the 4.6 releases).
So my advice would be to stick what works for you and then test the finished product.
