Hi there,

first of all, sorry for this awful subject... I don't really know how to describe this problem in short.

I have KMail 1.13.6 with KDE 4.6.0 on a openSUSE 11.4 system.
I have 3 mail accounts:
  • 1 POP, Gmx.net
  • 1 IMAP, own vServer with postfix and imap courier, and
  • 1 IMAP, Googlemail account.
My own server is set to default identity. The Gmx.net account has set it's own "special transport" in the advanced tab.

When I try to send something via Gmx.net, I get this message (it's partly German, partly English. This is the English translation:)
Sending failed:
The server does not accept the sender address my@vServer.com.
Message of the server: 5.7.0 Sender address does not belong to logged in user {mp036}
The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder.
The following transport was used:
Gmx.net

As you can see, it says, it uses "Gmx.net" as transport but it tries to identify with (sorry, I don't want to make my mail public, so I replaced it ;)) my@vServer.com.

This is really funny because this also happens when I set the Gmx.net SMTP server as default "outgoing account" it does not work.

Any ideas? I also couldn't find anything in bugs.kde.org that would help.

I'm not certain that I understand you, so my comments may or may not help. I also send most of my mail through my personal IMAP server, in my case, via my ISP's smtp. I also have a gmail account set up, and use that when I'm away from home. It's not possible to fix a specific transport to an identity, but what you can do is, in a compose window, use the View menu and tell it to display All fields, or at least the mail transport field. There you can manually change it when you need to use gmail. HTH

lol this is great. HAHA^^ I searched for this (since I'm originally a Thunderbird user) but I couldn't find. :)

This way it works.

Thank you very much! :)
